Planned Parenthood claims massive spike in donations since Trump's election
December 27, 2016
Planned Parenthood has seen an increase in donations following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the Nov. 8 election, according to The Guardian.
The Guardian reported that Planned Parenthood has received more than 300,000 donations since the election, about “40 times its normal rate.”
A spokesperson for the organization added that about half of the donors were millennials and approximately 70 percent were first-time donors to Planned Parenthood.
Trump made a series of conflicting statements on abortion during his presidential campaign, but Vice President-elect Mike Pence has a stanchly pro-life record as both a member of Congress and as governor of Indiana. Pence has stated that he wants to send Roe v. Wade “to the ash heap of history.”
TheBlaze previously reported that supporters of the nation’s largest abortion provider launched a social media campaign urging people to donate to the organization in Pence’s name to protest his pro-life position on abortion.
