Actor tells Republicans aborted babies are ‘A LOT cheaper than babies carried to term’

Actor Michael Ian Black attempted to turn the abortion debate into an economic one Wednesday evening, suggesting that those seeking to overturn the Affordable Care Act should also support abortion.

The “Wet Hot American Summer” actor tweeted that although it’s “not a recommendation” to Republicans working to repeal the Affordable Care Act, “aborted babies are A LOT cheaper than babies carried to term."

In subsequent tweets, Black responded to criticism of his “abortion joke” by writing that he is “purely arguing economics.”

Some Twitter users expressed disgust with the comment.

House Republicans have indicated that they will seek to strip funds from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. They have also said that they want to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
