British reporter wonders if Obama could 'murder' Trump, Pence to stay president

A British reporter wants to know if it's possible for President Barack Obama to remain as president if he "murders" President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence.

Rupert Myers, a correspondent for the Telegraph and British GQ, wondered in a tweet sent out Wednesday if Obama could then "pardon himself" after disposing of the next leader of the free world and his vice president.

"Could Obama murder Trump and Pence, then pardon himself? Asking for humanity," Myers tweeted.

Myers' tweet doesn't currently appear in his Twitter feed.

However, it seems unlikely that Myers deleted the post because he felt regret. He later seemingly doubled down on the tweet by calling attention to how other reporters were discussing it.

Myers then paraded out a screenshot of one of the articles highlighting the tweet, saying "it's really not that slow a news day."

"I was just wondering if the president could pardon himself," Myers tweeted.

It's not clear whether Myers' deleted his original tweet or if Twitter removed it.

The Telegraph and Conde Nast, which owns British GQ, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
