Report: NSA leaker part of the left-wing resistance, ties to Muslim civil rights' groups

Reality Leigh Winner, the alleged NSA leaker who purportedly passed confidential government information to the press, is said to be part of the "Resistance" and has supported Bernie Sanders, the Women's March and other civil rights movements including the Islamic Society of North America, a Muslim civil rights group.

Winner was arrested Saturday and appeared in federal court on Monday.

“A criminal complaint was filed in the Southern District of Georgia today charging Reality Leigh Winner, 25, a federal contractor from Augusta, Georgia, with removing classified material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet, in violation of 18 U.S.C. Section 793(e),” a statement from the Department of Justice read.

“On or about May 9, Winner printed and improperly removed classified intelligence reporting, which contained classified national defense information from an intelligence community agency, and unlawfully retained it,” the statement continued. “Approximately a few days later, Winner unlawfully transmitted by mail the intelligence reporting to an online news outlet.”

It was suspected that Winner leaked a document that was purportedly part of a highly classified report which detailed how the United States intelligence agencies monitored varying hacking attempts directed at local election offices during the 2016 election.

The document was said to include the U.S.'s alleged account of possible Russian interference in the 2016 election.

25-year-old Winner's digital footprint — surveyed by her reported habits on Facebook and Twitter - is said to show that she supported Bernie Sanders, "liked" or "followed" left-wing media moguls like Bill Maher and Michael Moore, and also had ties to the "Resistance."

The Daily Caller also reported that Winner recently referred to President Donald Trump as a "piece of s**t" over his position on the Dakota Access Pipeline.

In a Feb. 9 Facebook post, Winner allegedly wrote about Trump and the Pipeline:

"You have got to be s**tting me right now. No one has called? The White House shut down their phone lines. There have been protests for months, at both the drilling site and and outside the White House. I'm losing my mind. If you voted for this piece of s**t, explain this. He's lying. He's blatantly lying and the second largest supply of freshwater in the country is now at risk. #NoDAPL #NeverMyPresident #Resist."

A reporter with The Guardian was allegedly in contact with Winner's mother, who revealed to him that her daughter is a former U.S. linguist "who speaks Pashto, Farsi & Dari."

In a May 26 post, Winner wrote:

"If you've got a shred of capacity for self-reflection, you then have to sit there and say, well 100 years from now they're going to be looking at our level of knowledge and be saying the same exact things...I think it's overwhelmingly going to be, 'My god, that-that quaint...medieval, destructive belief they held on to then about human agency and free will. Whoa, they punished people who had brains that couldn't regulate their own behavior. They punished people who, because of toxin exposure or stress during adolescence, wound up with brains that couldn't control this or that at particular junctures. And they used words like Justice back then. Wow, I can't believe the stuff they did... It was practically like gangs of like goitrous peasants getting burning torches and going and burning down the whatevers [sic] around the medieval castle in terms of senses of the word Justice applying to what biology has to do with behavior.'"
