Bill Maher destroys evangelical defense of Roy Moore: 'Joseph and Mary didn't f***!

Bill Maher during the Friday airing of his HBO show, "Real Time," tore into an evangelical defense of Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore's reported encounter with a 14-year-old girl when he was 32 years old.

What was the defense?

In the wake of the allegations, Alabama state auditor Jim Zeigler defended Moore and used Joseph and Mary as an example to justify Moore's alleged relationship with the teen.

Zeigler advised constituents to "take Joseph and Mary" as an example.

"Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter," Zeigler reasoned. "They became parents of Jesus."

What was Maher's response?

Slamming the Republican party at large, Maher began, "Welcome to another edition of: Who pulled their d**k out this week? It’s so ironic that Trump is in China, because here in America, this is clearly the Year of the Dog."

Maher explained a recent Washington Post report which detailed Moore's alleged inappropriate relations with the 14-year-old girl.

"Top Republicans are now speaking out — against the women," Maher said. "No, really. Sean Hannity had to apologize for saying it was 'consensual,' and then had to explain to the other guys at Fox News what 'consensual' means. Alabama State Representative Ed Henry said that he wants to prosecute the women. He said that you can’t be a victim forty years later."

Maher then took aim at Zeigler's defense of Moore.

"Using Jesus to justify child molestation?" Maher asked. "Even the Catholics went, 'Tried it, doesn’t work.'"

He continued, "To my recollection, slight difference: Joseph and Mary didn’t f***. Isn’t that the whole point of that story?"

What are the details of the allegations against Moore?

Moore, who faces Democrat Doug Jones in a Dec. 12 special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, was accused of a 1979 sexual encounter with a 14-year-old.

Washington Post investigative report included names of four women who accused Moore of sexual misconduct.

The report was corroborated up by 30 additional sources.

Moore has unequivocally denied the claims.
