CNN's Brian Stelter takes a jab at Mark Levin's new No. 1 book — before he's even read it. Levin strikes back.

'Mark Levin's hate-the-media book is No. 1'

Conservative talk-show host Mark Levin's new book "Unfreedom of the Press" has already nailed the No. 1 spot on Amazon's best-selling books list — and it's not even officially available until midnight Monday.

Strong pre-order sales of Levin's book bumped Howard Stern's memoir, "Howard Stern Comes Again," from its top spot.

CNN's chief media correspondent Brian Stelter didn't bother to read the book before taking a jab at it in his online newsletter, Mediaite reported.

"Mark Levin's hate-the-media book is No. 1," Stelter wrote. "Right-wing commentator Mark Levin's book 'Unfreedom of the Press' comes out Tuesday. Thanks to his numerous plugs on the radio and on Fox, he's at No. 1 on Amazon's hardcover and paperback book chart right now, ahead of Howard Stern's new book."

"His overarching message: You can't trust the press," Stelter continued.

Levin, who hosts shows on BlazeTV and Fox News, fired back at Stelter's remarks on Twitter.

"Sadly, CNN's Brian Stelter is unstable & obsessed, and does a great disservice to press freedom and the public. He has no professional journalistic standards and is incapable of changing course. He's contributing to the demise of the media's credibility," Levin wrote Monday morning with a link to a Newsbusters tweet about Stelter's comment.

Stelter later claimed that he didn't "bash" Levin's book.

"I didn't "bash" @marklevinshow's book, I reported that it's #1 on Amazon and it's full of hate-the-media rhetoric," he tweeted.

But Levin pointed out that Stelter has confirmed the point he talks about in the book.

"CNN's Stelter makes my book's point and is too dumb to know it!" he tweeted.

What's the book about?

In his book, Levin discusses how "those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within: 'not government oppression or suppression,' he writes, but self-censorship, group-think, bias by omission, and passing off opinion, propaganda, pseudo-events, and outright lies as news," according to the book's description on Amazon.

What else?

President Donald Trump appears to be looking forward to reading Levin's book.

"Word is out that book is GREAT!" the president tweeted.
