Kerry blames Trump for climate change and asthma – here are the facts

Former Secretary of State John Kerry has decried President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate deal as “shameful” and “self-destructive.”

Last week, Trump announced that the U.S. was leaving the Paris climate accord, a global agreement aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. “He’s made us an environmental pariah in the world, and I think it is one of the most self-destructive moves I’ve ever seen by any president in my lifetime,” Kerry said in an interview with MSNBC last week.

On Monday’s “Pat & Stu,” Doc Thompson, Keri Malinak and Kal Elsebai took a look at the melodramatic interview where Kerry blamed Trump for kids suffering from asthma in the summer.

Doc cited research that debunked the idea that city pollution and asthma are connected and explained that current U.S. regulations are already improving air and water quality. “The fact is, our air quality continues to get better and better,” Doc said. “In total, it’s better than it was in the 1950s.”
