Defiant Trump: Democrats failed in ‘takedown attempt’ against me

Conservative Review

President Trump took to the podium during an impromptu Rose Garden press conference Wednesday, announcing the postponement of an infrastructure meeting with Democrats, citing what he described as a nonstop bad-faith impeachment campaign as a reason why the two sides would not be able to strike a deal.

Rejecting Democrat claims that he was somehow not being transparent, the president commented on the origins of the continuous effort on the Left to destroy his legitimacy.

“They would have loved to have said we colluded. They would have loved it. These people were out to get us,” President Trump said of Robert Mueller’s team of Democrat prosecutors. “The bottom line is they said there’s no collusion, no collusion with Russia.”

He continued, saying that the highly scrutinized Trump Tower meeting was a “setup” by the Democratic opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which at the time was contracted by both the Hillary Clinton campaign and Russian government figures.

“The whole thing with Russia was a hoax as it relates to the Trump administration and myself. It was a total, horrible thing that happened to our country. It hurt us in so many ways,” the president stated, before pointing out that despite the Democrat impeachment and delegitimacy campaign, the country continues to see record economic growth.

“There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. We’ve been doing this since I’ve been president,” President Trump said of the false Trump-Russia allegations.

Possibly hinting at the impending release of the DOJ inspector general’s report on surveillance abuses, President Trump added that the crime was actually “committed on the other side," adding, “We’ll see how that all turns out.”

“This whole thing was a takedown attempt at the president of the United States. And honestly you ought to be ashamed of yourselves for the way you reported so dishonestly," he told the legacy media.
