Levin: 'The media are destroying themselves'

Thursday on the radio, LevinTV host Mark Levin shared a piece by Rolling Stone journalist Matt Taibbi describing how the Russian collusion scandal will cost the news media its credibility.

Levin read from Taibbi's piece, in which the liberal writer called out colleagues in his own profession for making something out of nothing in countless reports on the so-called scandal.

"News audiences were betrayed, and sooner or later, even the most virulently Trump-despising demographics will realize it and tune us out," Taibbi wrote. "The only way to reverse the damage is to own how big of a screw-up this was, but after the last three years, who would hold their breath waiting for that?"

"Here and there, ladies and gentlemen, there are leftists in the media warning their colleagues. And yet, they're going further," Levin said.

Listen:

"They're pushing this obstruction of justice canard. They're pushing impeachment. MSNBC. CNN. Unfortunately, some individuals on Fox. New York Times, Washington Post — the usual suspects. Rather than any circumspection, rather than say, 'Wait, we better slow down here, we really blew this.' The top editor of the New York Times thinks they did a grand job. The head of CNN thinks they did a grand job. Look at how cocky, still, these phony journalists — particularly on cable — still are. Telling us that really, everything they did was right. ... It's appalling. The media are destroying freedom of the press. Not president Trump, not me, not the government. The media are destroying themselves. You and I are trying to save them, but they won't listen."
