WTF MSM!? No regrets …

Too few to mention …

BuzzFeed Ben … BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith has absolutely zero regrets over publishing the Fusion GPS Trump dossier a year ago. In an op-ed for the New York Times, Smith stands by his belief that the American people deserved to know what was in the dossier, even if — by his own admission — some of it wasn’t true. Smith claims that the dossier is real news, because journalists have spent a year covering it. Isn’t that a circular reference, though? If he hadn’t published it, would it have driven an entire year of news, most of it speculative and without evidence?

Really? … One of President Trump’s lawyers, Michael Cohen, is suing BuzzFeed and Fusion GPS for the harm he claims he has suffered due to the publication of the dossier. Cohen claims that the dossier is full of untruths about him and alleged collusion with Russia. He named BuzzFeed and its employees Ben Smith and Miriam Elder in the suit. CNN analyst and The Daily Beast editor-in-chief John Avalon called the suit “a gutless attempt to intimidate the press.” Brian Stelter seemingly concurred via a tweet. Really? Going after what you consider defamatory, unsubstantiated falsehoods against you by media personalities is an “attempt to intimidate the press?” In what world?

Testimony … Yesterday, without warning, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., released the transcript of Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson’s testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee. There wasn’t much in this testimony that Simpson has not said publicly since. What wasn’t answered was whether or not the dossier formed the basis for FISA warrants against Trump associates. The Washington Examiner’s Byron York is reporting this morning that Congress has seen the warrant applications and expects news on whether or not the dossier played a role.
