"President and Mrs. Bush are OK."
Police and fire units were called to the Dallas home of former President George W. Bush on Wednesday evening after a man reportedly drove his car into the family's yard around 8:30 p.m.
The Dallas Morning News reports:
Officials on the scene requested an ambulance for the driver. An early report from KTVT-TV (Channel 11) indicated that the motorist was en route to visit friends in the neighborhood when he lost control of his car.
Dallas police spokesman Warren Mitchell said that there was no perceived threat to the former president. He added that the Secret Service is still investigating the situation.
David Sherzer, Bush's communications director said, "President and Mrs. Bush are OK. They appreciate the work of the United States Secret Service and Dallas Police Department in responding to the incident."
CBS local affiliate KTVT reports that the driver was been taken into custody after 13 Dallas Police squad cars responded to the "executive threat."
The former president was reportedly at home at the time of the incident but was not harmed.
