NYT: Gee, what's with all the abortions?

From the NYT: 'City's High Abortion Rate Defies Easy Explanation'. It does?

"At a time when evidence suggests that people in New York City are smoking less, eating better and biking more, one health statistic that has not budged is the abortion rate."

Hmm, what ever could it be causing all those abortions?  Could it be the groups like Planned Parenthood and countless politicians who push abortion as a perfectly safe, acceptable, legal and legitimate 'choice' to make? How about our schools, who insist on teaching kids that abstinence is a joke, and casual sex with multiple partners before marriage is not a choice, but inevitable? Or Hollywood, who have worked tirelessly to make sex at first sight, one night stands, infidelity, and underage sex all accepted and even sought after practices? What about the President of the United States, who doesn't want his daughters to be 'punished' with a baby?

I'll let the Times noodle that for a moment. In the meantime, here are the shocking statistics:

"Two of every five (41%) pregnancies in the city end in abortion. There were 126,774 births, 11,620 miscarriages and 87,273 abortions in New York City in 2009"

Whoa. That is a horrifying statistic. And the Times wants answers! After lobbing the classic progressive 'the ignorance of people' guess (not kidding), The Times starts tip toeing  all around the answer:

"New York State law does not place as many restrictions on abortion as laws in some other states, like requiring parental consent for minors, or requiring women to undergo counseling that discourages abortion or to go through a waiting period."

So it's ok not to tell mom and dad, oh and you have no other option but to kill they baby -- combine that warped view with all the aforementioned forces encouraging and even celebrating of 'choice' and it's actually quite easy to explain why abortions continue to happen at an alarming rate.

The Times has this harrowing interview outside an abortion clinic:

A 20-year-old woman being helped by two male friends said she had her first abortion at 16, and also had a 7-month-old child. “It was an accident,” the woman said. “I used a condom every time, but I already have a kid, and I’m not ready for another one.”

'Helped'? Not the word I'd use to describe what these two bastards, these 'male friends' were doing. If you aren't ready for a child, don't have sex. Not that difficult a concept. You 'make a mistake'? Too bad - you knew the risk. Live with it.

There is no legit reason to have an abortion. Period. Until you can prove life begins anywhere but conception, I'm erring on the side of caution. One word says it all - and unfortunately it's the one word not mentioned in the Times article, and obviously never mentioned at Planned Parenthood:

Adoption. The oh-so controversial technique that enables those who 'make a mistake' to have the baby, and still not be 'punished' with it. What a radical concept.

The real question is - why isn't adoption mentioned more often?

Now that defies easy explanation.
