U.S. Plan to End Libya Conflict: Ask Nicely

The U.S. has relinquished most of its command in the Libyan war to NATO, but the real strategy for victory over Moammar Gadhafi is found on the airwaves above Libya. Communications frequencies being sent out from Western allies urge [Gadhafi's] commanders to simply give up.

"If that sounds like hope masquerading as a plan, then you're receiving the message loud and clear," Wired reports.

In the message, U.S. communications tell Libyan sailors to simply go home, adding that Gadhafi has violated resolutions from the United Nations.

American officers are also asking Gadhafi's field leaders to stand down in Ajdabiya, Misurata and Benghazi.  On Sunday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reiterated these information-operations campaigns. “We’re also sending a message to people around him,” Clinton said on NBC's Meet the Press. “‘Do you really want to be a pariah? Do you really want to end up in the International Criminal Court? Now is your time to get out of this and to help change the direction.’”
