It may seem a little early to start thinking about 'Back-to-School' stuff, but this is the month that the folks at Volunteers of America (VOA) kick off their annual 'Operation Backpack,' a program that collects backpacks, fills them with school supplies and gives them to homeless children as well as kids in need all across America.
The concept is a simple one. Collect backpacks from June 27 to July 24th, then start gathering school supplies and stuff those supplies into the backpacks and give them to kids so they can have the tools they need to learn and compete.
Operation Backpack currently has organizations in NYC, Colorado, the Delaware Valley, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. Some states have organization under development that could use a hand from people like you.
