Just got back from picking up a few last-minute hurricane prep items. Despite my prediction that this "hurricane" will be little more than a light rain shower by the time it reaches us here in D.C., I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.
Predictably, however, other people aren't taking any chances and scooping up whatever non-perishable items they can get their hands on. I snapped this image in the aisle for bottled water:
Having to buy bottled water is one of my least favorite activities... which brings me to my next observation: Why is bottled water so gosh darn expensive?! How is it I can buy a 2-liter bottle of Diet Pepsi on sale for 89 cents, but a 1-liter bottle of water will cost me $2 and some change?
There might be a legitimate reason for this and if you know it, please don't hesitate to share.
I've already survived an earthquake this week. I say, "Bring it on, Irene!"
