Michele Bachmann hit Newt Gingrich hard for his position on illegal immigration during last week's Republican debate. But she actually said something a few debates back that sounds like it could have been taken Gingrich's notecards.
"I don't think we're going to uproot you forcefully and kick you out," Gingrich said in the last debate, regarding illegal immigrants who have been in the U.S for 25 years. Bachmann responded, saying "that, in effect, is amnesty."
Yet at an earlier debate in September, Bachmann said the opposite. She was asked by one of the moderators what she would do with 11 million illegal immigrants in the country if its borders were secured first. "[...]It depends upon where they live, how long they have been here, if they have a criminal record. All of those things have to be taken into place," she said.
