Apple's 'Siri' System Won't Show You The Nearest Abortion Clinic--So Is She Pro-Life?

"No comment..."

Siri, Apple's voice-activated personal assistant on the iPhone 4S, may be able to help you do a slew of things -- even give you some tongue-in-cheek suggestions of what to do with a dead body -- but one thing it won't do is help you find an abortion clinic.

What Siri will do, Raw Story reports, is either tell you she couldn't find any or point out a couple crisis pregnancy centers that don't offer abortions:

Ask the Siri, the new iPhone 4 assistant, where to get an abortion, and, if you happen to be in Washington, D.C., she won’t direct you to the Planned Parenthood on 16th St, NW. Instead, she’ll suggest you pay a visit to the 1st Choice Women’s Health Center, an anti-abortion Crisis Pregnancy Center (CPC) in Landsdowne, Virginia, or Human Life Services, a CPC in York, Pennsylvania. Ask Google the same question, and you’ll get ads for no less than 7 metro-area abortion clinics, 2 CPCs and a nationwide abortion referral service.

Ask in New York City, and Siri will tell you “I didn’t find any abortion clinics.”

Raw Story goes on to say that Siri also does not know what Plan B is and as an answer for finding emergency contraceptives, Siri provides Google search results of definitions.

So is she pro-life? When asked, here's what Siri told Blaze editor Jon Seidl:

Is Siri pro-life?

While Siri is mum on the subject of contraceptives and abortions, the Abortioneers blog, which seems to be one of the first to discuss the topic, points out that Siri doesn't have any qualms with helping users in other medical situations, to find marijuana or escorts. The Atlantic notes that Siri also doesn't "understand" gay marriage and cannot help users find out where to get a mammogram.

It may be worth noting that many abortion clinics may not be able to be found because many don't call themselves "abortion clinics."
