Transplant Heart Spilled on Pavement in Rush to Hospital

"...with this type of thing you should be careful."

Two medics in Mexico know what it's like to be heart breakers -- and it's not because they're popular with the ladies.

In the mad dash to the emergency room door, the rolling cooler carrying a heart for transplant popped open spilling its contents on the pavement. Luckily, doctors said the heart was not broken by the tumble.

Watch the footage:

Mexico City police say they used a helicopter to deliver the heart in "a rapid, precision maneuver." But while running a medic stumbled and the plastic-wrapped heart tumbled out of a cooler onto the street.

Newspaper reader Christian Sabido posted one of the more printable online comments Wednesday, saying: "Anybody can make a mistake, but with this type of thing you should be careful."

The heart was quickly returned to the cooler without missing a beat and it has been confirmed that the transplant took place. Now the patient and doctors wait to see if it was successful.
