Hardball: Chris Matthews tells black preacher to 'evolve

We all know how President Obama's views on gay marriage have "evolved." We also know how MSNBC host Chris Matthews has a giant man crush on the president. That said, the Hardball host yesterday pressed black church leaders to get on board with Obama and his new-found views of gay marriage.

Matthews interviewed Bishop Harry Jackson, who has spoken out against Obama's endorsement of gay marriage. Speaking of Jesus Christ, the MSNBC host  pointed to questionable accusations that Mitt Romney once bullied a teen, nearly 50 years ago: "Do you think [Christ] would have been chasing after the kid with long hair and cutting his hair or he would have been the one protecting the kid with long hair in high school?"  Matthews then added: "But you're with the guy who was going after the kid with long hair."

A second guest, black minister Rev. Delman Coates, suggested that he can support gay marriage.  "Why not let the Muslims have polygamy and bigamy?" Jackson retorted.

"I hope you evolve," Matthews snapped at Jackson, adding, "I'm just teasing."
