Tenn. Man Mistakes Mitt Romney For Girlfriend's Secret Online Lover, Allegedly Punches Her in the Face

A Tennessee man suspected his live-in girlfriend was planning an affair after he found a picture of a man he didn't recognize on her Facebook page.

Enraged, Lowell Turpin, 40, confronted his girlfriend and "angrily demanded to know who the male was," according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun.

She answered her boyfriend truthfully and said: It's Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. But Turpin wasn't buying it.

Perhaps he had already slipped into an uncontrollable rage because even after being informed that it was indeed a photo Romney, Turpin completely lost it as the woman was "attempting to communicate with friends through her Facebook account." Turpin reportedly jerked the laptop from her hands and smashed it into the wall before hitting her in the face with his fist.

The 310-pound Turpin reportedly gave police "multiple contradictory accounts of the struggle over the laptop." His girlfriend, Crystal Gray, told police that Turpin had physically abused her in the past. The exact photo of Romney has not been identified yet but obviously Turpin is about as ill-informed when it comes to politics as one can possibly be.

Turpin is currently being held on $1,000 bond at the Anderson County Jail. He is charged with domestic assault in the incident that took place on July 22.
