Bless his heart: Southern black Republican offers Biden glass of sweet tea

Following some racially-tinged remarks made by Joe Biden yesterday, Chairman of the Georgia Black Republican Council Michael McNeely has invited the Vice President to a chat over a glass of sweet tea.

On the campaign trail in Virginia Biden said policies supported by Mitt Romney and the Republican Party will "put y’all back in chains" in front of a racially mixed audience. Biden has since said he meant to say "shackles" rather than "chains."

“I invite Vice President Biden to come to the South where the civil rights movement was fought...” McNeely said in a statement. “President Obama had a ‘Beer Summit’ in Washington, but here in Georgia, I offer a glass of sweet tea to set the tone for a productive dialogue.”
