For invite to next DNC, 'USA Today' offers free tip to John Edwards

Despite living a mere two hours from Charlotte, N.C., John Edwards will not be at the Democratic convention. Which is fine by everyone else who actually will be. "I have to believe in second chances, because that's what my faith teaches," George Battle, bishop of the AME Zion Church of North Carolina and a state delegate, told USA Today. "But we have to have standards and principles."

Battle is one of many people cited in Today's story who don't see a place for Edwards at the convention. It was just three months ago that Edwards avoided conviction of misusing campaign funds to hide an extra-marital affair.

But the newspaper has some advice for Edwards, should he be looking for any type of comeback into public life:

For a model of public rehabilitation, Edwards need only watch TV Wednesday night. Another politician who cheated on his wife and lied about it —Bill Clinton— will speak in prime time.
