Petraeus ladies don pink: What's it mean?

The two ladies at the center of the Petraeus sex scandal were photographed yesterday, both of them wearing bright pink clothes.

On the left is Paula Broadwell, the woman who was having an affair with Gen. David Petraeus. To the right is Jill Kelley, the woman who allegedly received emailed threats from Broadwell:

Coincidence? We have our suspicions so we looked up some professional opinions on color meanings. They might reveal something...

Precision Intermedia, a California-based advertising agency says: "[T]he true color of love is pink. Pink is the most calming of all colors -- often our most dangerous criminals are housed in pink cells as studies show that color drains the energy and calms aggression. Think of pink as the color of romance, love, and gentle feelings, to be in the pink is to be soothed."

College Fashion blog has input specifically about pink on clothing: "Pink is very calming, so don’t wear it if you need tons of energy. Because of its romance association, pink is a good choice for a date. You can also wear it anytime you’re a little bummed out for a boost."

Lastly, from "color expert" Kate Smith: "Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood. ... Pink encourages friendliness while discouraging aggression and ill-will."
