Sandy Hook just behind Columbine in public interest of recent shootings

A new Pew survey shows most Americans (57 percent) say they followed news coverage of the Sandy Hook shooting "very closely." In terms of recent high-profile gun tragedies, it comes only behind the Columbine High School incident, which was followed very closely by 68 percent of Americans.

Included in the study were the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting (followed very closely by 41 percent); the Tucson, Ariz., shooting that injured former Rep. Gabby Giffords (49 percent); and the Viriginia Tech massacre (45 percent).
