NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino Admits to Fathering a Child Out of Wedlock With CBS Employee

NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and CBS analyst Dan Marino has admitted to fathering a child out of wedlock with another CBS Sports employee in 2005.

The New York Post reported Thursday that the ex-Miami Dolphins player had an affair with then-35-year-old production assistant Donna Savattere and agreed to pay her millions after the two had a daughter, Chloe, in June 2005.

“This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then,” Marino told the Post in a statement. “We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”

Marino and his wife Claire have been married 28 years and have six children together -- four sons and two adopted daughters.

"We continue to be a strong and loving family," he said.

Chloe's birth came two months before Marino was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It wasn't clear precisely how much money Marino paid Savattere.

Marino is set to be part of CBS' Super Bowl telecast on Sunday ahead of the kickoff.
