What Does the Sequester Mean to National Security?

The Senate has spent part of the past week focused on the confirmation hearings of Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel. An issue looming over these proceedings is the sequester. Billions in cuts to the nation’s defense budget are scheduled at a time when things feel perhaps less secure across a wider swath of globe than ever, with a suicide bombing at a U.S. Embassy in Turkey just today. Will the sequester, which many lawmakers in Washington seem resigned to, have a negative impact on our ability to defend our interests across the globe?  Veronique de Rugy of the Mercatus Center at George Washington University joined 'Real News' Friday to discuss planned sequestration cuts and how they effect U.S. security:
