Amazing Florida Storm Footage: Wind Tears Through Lowe's Hardware Store Sending People Screaming

Thousands were left without power in Central Florida Sunday when a strong storm rolled through the area. But if you want to see just how severe the weather was, video taken from a Lowe's hardware store near Orlando can give you an idea.

Customers hurried through the open automatic door and carts were pushed inside by the noisy wind as employees struggled to close the door.

The video was taken by Daniel Frawley and posted on YouTube where he described the scene as a possible tornado.

What we don't see, Frawley explained in a comment, is how it got even windier after he shut off the camera to help.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service just before 2 p.m. followed by several tornado warnings. Hail up to the size of a quarter and wind gusts around 55 miles per hour with one getting up to 86 mph were reported.

WESH reported Orlando residents saying the weather sounded like a tornado passing through. A funnel cloud was reported by NWS around 3:30 p.m. in Brevard County.

"I have experienced hurricanes before, but nothing like this," resident Stephanie Vasquez told WESH. "We looked out the window and we couldn't see anything at all. It was white, the windows were shaking, so we got scared and went in the bathroom. Once we came out, we looked out the window, and the car was just destroyed."

More than 20,000 people were without power, as were more than 100 traffic lights, in the Orlando area early Monday morning.
