Unbelievable': Apparent Thief Leaves $140 & Apology Note on Family's Doorstep -- Find Out Why

"He would be welcome in our home."

A family living in Villa Hills, a city near Cincinnati, has an enviable backyard.  There are places to sit, beer on tap, and a small refrigerator stocked with drinks during the summer.

For years, Dee and Leo Samad have happily hosted friends and neighbors for dinner and beverages.  But there always seemed to be a bit more missing than what they gave out, they say.

Dee explained to local news stations that on a few occasions, her husband would say he had just put a fresh case of beer in the fridge, but the next time they opened it there would only be five or six left.

They assumed it was simply friends of their children, but last week, they received some shocking news.

Dee was returning home when she saw a note on her doorstep.  When she opened it up, she said she found seven $20 bills and an apology.

“Enclosed is a sum of cash that my friends and I owe you and your family to repay you for all of the times we have stolen from your poolside fridge/bar over the past few years,” the note read, according to Cincinnati.com.  “I hope you will accept my most sincere apology for trespassing as well as feeling entitled to take what was not mine...The amount is a rough estimate, and I realize no amount will completely satisfy the anger you may have.”

The author also referenced Romans 1:16 before asking the family to bless themselves with "gifts of goods and happiness."

Dee appeared moved.

"I have no desire to call the police," she said.  "They know that they did wrong, they admitted that they did wrong, and it takes a big person to do that."

Speaking with WKRC-TV, Dee said the note was the most "unbelievable" thing that has ever happened to her.

"I hope that he sees this on TV and knocks on our door," she remarked.  "He would be welcome in our home."
