Barney Frank Flips Out at Event Organizers, Spends Half a Minute of 4-Minute Speech Complaining That He Only Has 4 Minutes to Talk

"I begin with an apology."

Former Democratic Congressman Barney Frank began his address at the ultra-liberal Netroots Nation conference Thursday by spending half a minute complaining how his speech could only be four minutes long.

“I begin with an apology, I have an 8:30 plane because I have to be back,” Frank said. “I argued with the organizers about the schedule – I was right, they were wrong – but I can’t miss my plane so I will be very brief.”

“It is no sign of disrespect to you, it is the sign of the overconfidence in the organizers and their ability to control how long people talk,” he added.

Frank used what little time he had to rail against the Supreme Court’s Citizen’s United decision and to encourage conference-goers to fight evil Republicans.

“We cannot allow the right-wing to win by default,” he said. “We cannot allow our people to be discouraged.”

He concluded by taking a shot at the March 1 automatic spending cuts known as “sequester.”

“At this point I have to get off to the airport,” he concluded. “My colleagues were kind enough to change the sequester so that it didn’t help poor people, didn’t help old people, didn’t help the environment, but they did protect my ability to fly home and I don’t want to be ungrateful.”
