NY Post compares Jimmy Carter to Miss Utah

For former president Jimmy Carter (D) recently answering a question from TIME about women receiving less pay than men, the New York Posteditorialized Tuesday that Carter was "outdoing" Miss Utah Marissa Powell.

"If an employer, who might be otherwise enlightened," Carter told TIME, "if he is a religious person and he sees that, he might be a Catholic, and a Catholic does not let women be priests, then why should he pay his women employees an equal pay [as men]?"

Powell famously rambled off an incoherent answer to a similar question during the Miss USA Pageant in mid June. "[W]e need to figure out how to create education better so that we can solve this problem," she said.
