Pocket Dial Leaves Chilling Voicemail of Woman's Last Moments as She Pleaded With Accused Murderer

“You have five seconds and then…and then I’m going to kill you.”

It's likely you've either sent or received an accidental pocket dial. The kind where your cellphone accidentally calls someone providing the recipient with the sound of walking or sometimes bits of a muffled conversation.

But it's unlikely that you've ever received a pocket dial like that which will be a key piece of evidence in a murder trial that will continue in July.

This voicemail records the last moments of 27-year-old Danielle Thomas' life while she was being beaten by her boyfriend Jason Bohn, now 34, last year in her New York City apartment. Bohn turned himself in a few days after Thomas' murder, which took place June 26, 2012, and will appear in court July 29 under first-degree murder charges.

WCBS-TV obtained an exclusive transcript of the voicemail, the recording of which has not been released by the authorities. Here's what the CBS affiliate reported:

According to the transcript obtained by CBS 2, Bohn is allegedly strangling Thomas as he asks her why she called an out-of-town phone number.

“Why did you call 508, why did you call that number?” he asked her nearly 20 times.

Prosecutors said Bohn repeatedly would strangle Thomas and then release her to answer his inquiries.

As she gasps for air, Thomas denies calling the number, according to the transcript.

She replied “I don’t know” and said “Jason, I love you” a dozen times.

Bohn replies “You have five seconds and then…and then I’m going to kill you.”

The accused killer then gives his victim instructions, telling her “I’m going to let you up and then you need to answer quickly or else you die…Danielle, why did you call that number?…Danielle you are so stupid. You think I’m going to stop, I won’t stop.”

Here's WCBS' report:

It is not specified whose friend was called -- Thomas' or Bohn's -- resulting in the chilling recording.

Thomas was found beaten and strangled in her bathtub in her apartment in Astoria, which is the Queens borough of New York City.

Bohn's defense attorneys have cited past childhood abuse contributing to emotional distress and a poor mental state at the time he killed Thomas, which could reduce his sentence from life in prison to 25 years, WCBS reported. But prosecutors argue that Bohn had a history of abuse suggesting he planned to kill Thomas.

WCBS reported neighbors hearing her screams before and one woman recalling hearing her saying "He’s killing me, somebody help.’”
