The Washington Post has added a new top secret slide to its collection revealing details about the National Security Agency's data collection programs.

The new slide lists "Two Types of Collection": Upstream and PRISM.

Upstream is described as "collection of communication on fiber cables and infrastructure as data flows past."

PRISM is described as the "collection directly from servers of these U.S. Service Providers: Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, Apple."

This activity has been known since early June when both the Guardian and the Washington Post began publishing classified information about NSA programs leaked to it by former government contractor Edward Snowden.

The slide shows a map of North America with what can only be assumed to be undersea, fiber cables running into the oceans on either side of the USA. The slide says "you should use both" in terms of analysis using Upstream and PRISM for data collection.

The slide is similar to one published by the Guardian last month with this latest slide focusing primarily on North American while the other showed cables around the world. The Post's slide also lists Fairview, Stormbrew, Blarney and Oakstar under Upstream, while the Guardian's lists Fairview and Blarney with two others blacked out.

The Post reported Blarney to be a program collecting metadata from the Internet.

The Post said it is unclear why these two slides vary.

Overall, the slide adds to the growing amount of leaked information that continues to emerge about international and domestic surveillance.
