O'Reilly challenges Stephanopoulos' 'patriotism

On Wednesday's O'Reilly Factor, show host Bill O'Reilly went after ABC This Week's George Stephanopoulos over an interview he recently did with PBS's Tavis Smiley.

Smiley said Sunday on This Week that the acquittal of George Zimmerman is "a piece of evidence of the incontrovertible contempt that this nation often shows and displays for black men."

"Why didn't you challenge him on that, George?" O'Reilly said to Stephanopoulos, who maintained that he did redirect his conversation with Smiley to deal with the verdict and not its implications on race relations.

"It's not even a matter of journalism, it's a matter of patriotism," O'Reilly said.

It's not the first time O'Reilly has taken the aftermath of the Zimmerman verdict to call into question the patriotism of some. Earlier this week he said some of the verdict's detractors were "anti-American."
