BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Beaumont Police said an officer responded to a robbery at a convenience store and found a man fitting the suspect's description.
The suspect fired at the officer, and the officer shot back. Police scoured the area late Saturday without finding the suspect.
But a woman called for an ambulance Sunday morning saying her brother had a broken arm. Except when paramedics arrived, they discovered it was a non-life-threatening bullet wound.
He matched the description of the robbery suspect and officers found evidence linking him to the crime.
Police have not released the suspect's name. He was being held on aggravated robbery and attempted capital murder charges and was undergoing surgery on his wound.
