Krauthammer, in a wheelchair, jokes he didn't bring right shoes for Cruz-length speech

We'll have more later on the conservative Media Research Center's annual "DisHonors Awards" gala, which took place Thursday night in Washington, D.C. But in meantime...

At the event, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer was presented the William F. Buckley Jr. Award for Media Excellence. For his acceptance speech, he referenced the now-famous 21-hour, anti-"Obamacare" speech delivered Tuesday on the U.S. Senate floor by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

"I intended to speak for 21 hours and 13 minutes," Krauthammer joked. "But I brought the wrong shoes."

Cruz said during his speech that he had considered what shoes would be most comfortable for an extended period of standing.

For the uninitiated, Krauthammer, 63, utilizes a wheelchair. He was paralyzed during a diving accident when he was 20 years old.
