Systemic glitches have left many users unable to access the Obamacare online exchanges, meaning those same users have no idea how much enrollment would cost them.
The Kaiser Family Foundation has a tool to help consumers figure out the cost of enrolling in the government-sponsored program.
Created in collaboration with National Public Radio, the Obamacare calculator was released Sept. 30 -- a day before the online exchanges went live -- but for some, it may provide the only window into knowing how much they'd pay.
The calculator also helps consumers figure out whether they will qualify for subsidized insurance coverage or Medicaid.
All you have to do is enter your ZIP code, income, family size and a few other bits of information to figure out how much the insurance premiums available on the Obamacare online exchanges will cost.
The calculator includes data from 46 states (and the District of Columbia) but excludes Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont because those states either used different formulas to set their premiums or the Kaiser Family Foundation wasn’t able to access their data:
Considering that the Obamacare online exchanges are still dealing with multiple technical hiccups, the tool could prove to be very useful.
People have long stated their confusion over whether they’d qualify for subsidized insurance. Others have also stated that they have no idea how much President Barack Obama’s health care law will cost them.
