Georgia Teen Busted for Fiery 'Duck Dynasty'-Related Crime

Georgia police have apprehended a suspect they believe stole a scarecrow rendition of "Duck Dynasty" star Uncle Si Robertson and burned it.

Ball Ground Police Chief Bryon Reeves said tips from residents led to the arrest of a juvenile who now faces charges, according to the Associated Press.

"Someone called in a tip and said they'd seen it on a porch outside the city. He admitted that he did take it on his way home one night, and he burned it because he got afraid of the media attention and what it got on social media." Reeves said, according to WSB-TV.

Authorities reportedly said the teen, charged with theft, expressed remorse after being caught.

The scarecrow had gone missing sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning in the town of Ball Ground, roughly 50 miles north of Atlanta.

City Manager Eric Wilmarth had previously told the Cherokee Tribune that a $1,000 reward was "being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual who stole this item."

The scarecrow, which shows the popular character from the TV show in camouflage, was crafted by four elementary school moms who spent more than 40 hours creating it in a contest to raise money for science, technology, engineering and math programs at school.

They now plan to build another one.

"To begin with we were kind of upset, the main reason we had done 'Duck Dynasty' was because of the background and their beliefs and we truly believe in them, and as a community we have to forgive," one of the moms, Alison Martin, reportedly said.
