Leaders of Unbelievably Talented All-Volunteer Choir Reveal Their Secret to Success

"And once they do that, then they're never, ever satisfied with anything less."

How can an all-volunteer choir or orchestra, whose members vary in age from 4-years-old to 68-years-old, maintain a world-class standard of excellence?

According to Brandon and Brett Stewart, the founding musical directors of Millennial Choirs and Orchestras, it's a combination of hours of practice and only accepting a bar as high as if they were all full-time professionals.

Though many would only dedicate limited time or effort to a volunteer group, Brett said he thinks their success is because "people want excellence."

"They want to be pushed," he explained on The Glenn Beck Program. "They want someone to demand something of them and expect something of them that's higher than what they believe they can achieve, and then they achieve it. And once they do that, then they're never, ever satisfied with anything less."

The group, which encompasses members of all faiths, typically practices once a week for about three months before putting on a performance. Glenn Beck interviewed Brandon and Brett Stewart for a segment on TheBlaze TV Monday, and said he's never heard anything as remarkable as the music Millennial Choirs and Orchestras has created.

"Nobody sucks!" he said in surprise, commenting on how rare it is to find children and teenagers who are engaged and "sitting on the edge of their seats" for hours on end.

Millennial Choirs and Orchestras even maintains a rigorous code of conduct that extends out of rehearsal and into participants' private lives and social media activity.

"I think that the reason that the intensity works is because there is the faith element and the sacred music element, so we're creating excellence, but at the same time people are feeling something," Brandon explained.
