I just want to get a free check

During an address on extending unemployment benefits, President Obama said Tuesday he "can't name a time when I met an American who would rather have an unemployment check than the pride of having a job."

Maybe he never met one. But doesn't he at least watch HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher"? I do. I'm a fan.

After hearing his quote, I thought of the episode from March of 2012 when House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's daughter, documentary maker Alexandra Pelosi, showed a video of New Yorkers who wanted just that.

"Do you really want to work or you just want to get a free check?" Pelosi asks one guy in line at a welfare office.

"I just want to get a free check," he says.
