Russell Simmons Tweets Tribute to Ariel Sharon, Deletes It, Apologizes -- But Wait Until You Hear His Explanation

"Wow, that is truly disgusting."

Rap mogul Russell Simmons took to Twitter on Saturday to praise Ariel Sharon after his death:

Simmons then deleted the tweet, but not before those in the anti-Sharon camp saw it and got in a few licks (language warning):

But check out Simmons' apology and explanation — turns out he was exercising and got a bit lightheaded.

Then he apparently confused Sharon with "longtime friend Shimon Peres"; Simmons added that he was no Sharon fan:

Interesting that Simmons confused a well-known state leader who just died with a still-alive state leader he calls a "longtime friend."
