That’s according to the National Republican Congressional Committee, which has spent the last year creating a complex voter database from scratch. Officials claim the system was vital in Republican David Jolly’s victory in last week’s special election for U.S. House in Florida.

The system, titled “Honeybadger,” reportedly consists of a “continually updating system that integrates real-time data with existing voter files,” National Journal reports. Using the system, the NRCC sought to discover what motivated GOP voters to go to the polls.

"We weren't doing any of this stuff last cycle,” NRCC Deputy Political Director John Rogers told National Journal.

Through their research, officials determined that the prospect of Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) taking back the speaker’s gavel from Republicans fired up voters the most. So they blasted that message out across a “variety of digital platforms and email,” telling voters to get to the polls to make sure that didn’t happen.

Democrats, though, are dismissing the idea that they were outplayed by the GOP in Florida.

"National Republicans bragging about winning a Republican-held seat with a heavily Republican electorate is hardly illuminating and certainly doesn't demonstrate whether their data and analytics operations have joined the 21st century," a spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said.
