Mother Arrested On Six Murder Charges After Police Make Sickening Discoveries in Her Former House

"I mean, to have this many babies full term, it’s like… Where were they?”

Police arrested a Utah woman after finding seven dead infants she reportedly gave birth to during a 10-year period in her former residence.

Megan Huntsman lived in the Pleasant Grove house until three years ago and was arrested Sunday. Police say the 39-year-old birthed the infants from 1996 to 2006.

Police responded to the house after people cleaning out a garage found what they believed to be a dead infant in a container, according to KSTU-TV in Salt Lake City.

Police said the infant they found was full term.

A search warrant was obtained on the residence, which is about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City, and that's when six additional infant bodies were found, each packaged in separate containers. Police said the bodies were in cardboard boxes and they believe Huntsman killed all six, KSTU reported.

Huntsman was faces six counts of murder rather than seven because police believe one of the seven was stillborn.

Huntsman had not lived in the home since 2011, KSTU reported, and had shared it with her now-estranged husband, who had spent nine years in federal prison on drug distribution related charges.

The home was owned by the parents of Huntsman's estranged husband, who oversaw it while their son was in prison. But the estranged husband returned to the residence on Saturday and began to clear out the house.

And that is when he and others assisting him found a box. It smelled badly and appeared to contain a dead infant.

Police said that Huntsman had lived at the residence with three children of hers and her estranged husband. Those daughters are now in their teens.

“She always looked kind of slim," one neighbor told KSTU of Huntsman. "I mean, to have this many babies full term, it’s like… Where were they?”

Police Capt. Michael Roberts said the estranged husband isn't a person of interest in the case.
