Woman Dies in Car Crash, But It's What Happened Afterwards That Stunned Onlookers: 'Unbelievable
June 05, 2014
"It's unbelievable, I have never heard of such a thing."
A Houston mother with her two young children in a vehicle was fatally wounded after being involved in a car crash Wednesday afternoon, but it's what happened after that stunned onlookers.
Eyewitnesses told police that people were spotted stealing groceries out of the front seat of the dead woman's Toyota 4-Runner, KTRK-TV reported.
"You see the person dead. How do you feel taking the person's groceries?" onlooker Sheila Katoo told the local ABC affiliate.
"It's unbelievable, I have never heard of such a thing," another witness said.
The woman's two sons, ages 6 and 4, were in the vehicle and wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, KTRK reported.
"I just feel sorry for the children in the vehicle, little kids," onlooker Carlton Franklin said. "The kids are innocent."
According to KTRK, the unidentified mother had attended her 4-year-old's elementary school's graduation ceremony, then picked up groceries before being involved in the accident.
Police believe she was at fault and not wearing a seatbelt.
