Sir Mix-A-Lot Raps Iconic 'Baby Got Back' in a Way 'You May Have Never Heard Before

"I like big butts and I cannot lie."

On Friday night, the grand, sweeping sound of the Seattle Symphony met the blunt lyrics of Sir Mix-A-Lot — you know, the guy who raps, "I like big butts and I cannot lie."

The result? "A little something you may have never heard before," he told the audience and at least two dozen women who stormed the stage a minute before.

With that a new version of the iconic "Baby Got Back," now accompanied by cellos, violins, and other instruments not typically associated with the song.

Sir Mix-A-Lot's collaboration with the symphony was part of "Sonic Evolution," a project aimed at creating "a bridge between the Symphony and Seattle’s storied reputation as launching pad for some of the most creative musicians on the popular music scene."

The project seems to be a hit.

The show was “just epic,” attendee Amy Adams told the Seattle Times. “It was a wonderful way to bring in people who don’t usually go to the symphony.”
