High on the Holy Spirit? Man Charged With DUI After Wild Antics Reportedly Made an Odd Claim

A Washington man charged with a DUI after allegedly crashing into another car and attempting to steal cash from a gas station reportedly offered up an odd claim after his arrest: that he was filled only with the Holy Spirit.

Anthoney Stanley, 28, allegedly rear-ended another vehicle in Tacoma recently before fleeing to a gas station, demanding donuts and gas, and reportedly jumping the counter in an attempt to open the cash register, according to charges filed against him.

Police said at the time that Stanley was seemingly under the influence of stimulants, though he had a very different explanation about what they'd find in his blood, KOMO-TV reported.

"He said he is filled with the Holy Spirit and said the officer could draw his blood, but all he would find would be God," according to the documents outlining the charges against Stanley.

As for the car he allegedly hit, he reportedly told police that the driver had waved a gun at him -- and  that he jumped the counter at the station to gain access to gas money.

Police later charged Stanley with DUI, hit and run, attempted robbery, driving with a suspended license and failing to use the required ignition interlock device, according to KOMO-TV.
