Texas Megapastor Issues Major Challenge to His Church Involving God, Cash — and a Whole Lot of Faith

A Texas megachurch is issuing a big promise to parishioners: if they begin tithing as part of a 90-day challenge and they don't see God "hold true to his promise of blessings," the house of worship will fully refund their monetary gifts.

Pastor Ed Young of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas, is leading the call to urge Christians to regularly offer up tithes, using a new preaching series called "The Tipping Point" -- a message sequence he's calling "the most provocative … of the year," according to Charisma News.

The campaign, which urges parishioners to give 10 percent of their incomes, relies upon the words found in Malachi 3:10, which read: "'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,' says the Lord Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

According to Fellowship Church's website, congregants will learn through the sermon series, which began June 7, "What it takes to reach the tipping point in the life God has given us."

Making the decision to give, the church says, could lead to "unbelievable momentum" that invigorates' its members lives. But if parishioners don't see the benefits paying off after three months passes, they're able to get their money back in full.

"We commit to you that if you tithe for 90 days and God doesn’t hold true to his promise of blessings, we will refund 100% of your tithe," the church proclaims on its website.
