Prominent evangelical leaders are teaming up for a six-day solidarity trip to Israel in an effort to "stand in support of the nation’s right to defend itself from those who would deny their right to exist."

The trip, called "Christians in Solidarity With Israel," will run from August 17-22 and is being organized by the National Religious Broadcasters, an umbrella group of Christian media and communications professionals, and the Israel Ministry of Tourism.
The Christian leaders will meet with Israeli politicians and citizens during their trip in an effort to offer their support to the Jewish state, according to a press release addressing the event.
Among those planning to attend are Dr. Jerry Johnson, president and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters, Richard Land, president of the Southern Evangelical Seminary, Anne Graham Lotz, president of AnGel Ministries and daughter of the Rev. Billy Graham and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, among others.
"Countering rising anti-Semitism in the international press and on the streets, this friendship visit will communicate to Israel and to the Palestinians who stand in opposition to Hamas that we, leaders who represent the Christian community, stand with them," Johnson said in a press release. "It will also show the world that Christians in general support the Jewish people and their right to security."
Perkins added in a separate press release about "Christians in Solidarity With Israel" that Christians are instructed to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem" and that "those who bless Israel will be blessed."
He added that it is in the United States' best interest to support the Jewish state, according to Religion News Service.
