"I just tried to do the right thing."
When 18-year-old Renno Young drove by his neighbor's house outside Pittsburgh Tuesday morning, he knew he had to stop.
Trapped inside the burning home was 71-year-old Lilian Kelly, who Young saw desperately trying to open the garage door.
When Young got to Kelly, he said “she couldn’t breathe, she was having a hard enough time breathing." That's when Young picked Kelly up and carried her outside to safety.
Kelly, who has emphysema, had several oxygen tanks inside the home which exploded during the fire. The elderly woman was taken to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she remains in serious condition. Kelly's husband, George, was not home at the time the fire broke out, KDKA-TV reported.
As for Young: “I just tried to do the right thing," he said.
