Chicago police said they started looking for 29-year-old Bryan Duffy on Sunday when they spotted him digging around in flower pots along the Chicago Marathon route.

But he made a run for it — literally.

Police said Duffy dodged the officers by joining a sea of marathon runners. Police eventually tackled and arrested him, which could explain the road rash on his face when he appeared in court Monday.

A police report said Duffy was carrying at least 10 capsules of what officers suspected to be ecstasy and a roll of cash totaling $351, according to DNAinfo Chicago.

Duffy was charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and reckless conduct.  A Cook County judge set his bail at $10,000.
