What a Burger King Employee Did After Finding $100,000 in Cash

"I've been in this country 26 years, and I worked two jobs for 15 years before I bought this Burger King."

Burger King employee Sahista Bakawla was doing some cleaning when she noticed that someone had forgotten their backpack.

"I twice cleaned, like two or three times cleaned the tables and it's still here," Sahista Bakawla, assistant manager of the San Jose, California Burger King, told KGO-TV. "I waited until 3 p.m. and nobody came here."

So Bakawla opened the backpack, hoping to find an ID or some way of getting in touch with the owner. She never expected to find stacks of $100 bills, adding up to roughly $100,000.

Bakawla immediately called the store's owner, who joked that he briefly considered keeping the money.

"I said, 'Wow! Today's my birthday, this is my birthday gift,'" store owner Altaf Chaus remarked.

But the thought only crossed his mind for a moment before he called the police.

"I've been in this country 26 years, and I worked two jobs for 15 years before I bought this Burger King," Chaus said. "So I'm a very hard working man. I don't want that money, maybe it belongs to somebody."

Police are looking for the individual who forgot the bag, which also contained a small amount of marijuana and some candy.
